Over the Summer, I think I had an epiphany. I ran out of my Born This Way foundation which wasn’t really doing it for me anymore. It got a bit cloggy in my pores after applying it every day and I was finding it would come off very easily. It being Summer and all, I decided to go completely foundation free and just use my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. God, what a good decision I made.
My skin has been miles better since I stopped clogging it with foundation daily. Some days I’d go to put foundation on and look at my pores wondering what on earth had happened to them! I’ve stopped applying so much thick rubbish onto my face which has reduced the size of my pores. I have also found it is much easier and quicker to take off my face of an evening instead of using 50 make up pads to keep going over my face to ensure it is all off.
I was struggling some mornings with blending in my foundation as it just would not want to sit on my skin but I find this is not a problem I have at all with concealer. It blends in perfectly and does not sit on top of my skin, leaving it to come off on my hands or phone like my foundation used to do 24/7.
A few blobs of concealer under the eyes and on blemishes does the job. I am nowhere near caking my face as much with concealer as I did foundation. I think having a big bottle of foundation made me use more as I there is a lot in a bottle but with concealer, it is only a small bottle which means it will run out quicker an this makes me use it more sparingly.
As well as saving my skin, it has also saved me money! £30 or £4.19? Think I know which I prefer! My concealers usually last me around a month or just over till they are running on empty so I don’t mind spending £4 a time on restocking. It makes spending money on make up more bearable than splashing £30 which you don’t want to part with.
Now we are getting into Autumn I am going to try my best to stick to the concealer life as it is clearly helping my skin. I’m debating currently if it is worth trying some higher end concealers to see if they do the trick as well as my £4 Collection concealer.
Any recommendations for brands with great concealer ranges?
