The Right Tool for the Job

Over the years I have tried various different ways of applying my foundation, whether it be with my fingers (yes I sadly was once that person) or brushes. There is always one way in particular though that I just could not grasp. The blender.

Something about them just seemed incredibly terrifying, like they were going to absorb all of my expensive foundation and make blending look really patchy so I tended to steer clear of using them and stuck to my trusty brushes.

Last week Basic Beauty Tools got in touch with me and asked if I would like to try their blenders*. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to breach out of my comfort zone and try something a little different.

When I took the blenders out of the box I couldn’t believe how soft they were. So soft. I thought they were going to be quite firm and hard but it was like putting a soft blanket to your skin. Already I was pretty impressed.

The teardrop shape with a flat side and pointy tip makes it easy to blend your make up in all the little areas of your face, even the difficult ones. I found the blenders much easier to use than expected and they proved my judgement of having patchy foundation totally wrong.

Their blenders come in three different colours; purple, pink and black. I thought these colours were quite clever, especially the black so you can see if the blender has a build up of foundation even after washing!

I was especially happy to see that as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, something I support quite strongly, Basic Beauty Tools have a promotion on their pink blender/Spongedry is 20% off with £2 donated to Cancer Research after purchase. What a lovely idea!

I know washing brushes is a mega chore so anything to make life easier (and them dry quicker) is a god send. The Spongedry is such a clever idea from Basic Beauty Tools as it gives somewhere for the blender to dry in a hygienic way. With such simple instructions, the rings pop up from the flat base to form what to me looked like an egg cup holder! The blender slots straight in keeping it upright and preventing it from touching anywhere dirty. Little did I know that this keeps the product from the build-up of bacteria and mould!

I’ve learnt my lesson this time, to never judge a blender by the way it looks.

You can use my promo code ‘NATALIE‘ at the checkout and it will give you 15% off all of the products across the their websites. This is valid till the end of January 2018.

Have you tried any of the Basic Beauty Tools blenders or did you have ‘blender fear’ a bit like me?
