Keeping up my end of year blog post tradition, here I am writing that another year is over and another has begun. I cannot believe how quickly 2018 went, I am overjoyed to be looking back on the last 12 months and all the wonderful memories that I have made.
At the start of the year I didn’t document very much. I would say that to be quite honest, I felt a bit lost. Nothing seemed to be working out in terms of uni which heavily impacted the way I was feeling. I made it my mission for my final year at university to change my work ethic and stop being such a perfectionist. Trying my best is all I can do, making it perfect will only lead to disappointment and unnecessary stress.
After second year had finished, I felt like that was a turning point for me, I instantly felt a sigh of relief and felt I could actually enjoy my year now it was over.
In April I secured a placement at Storm which was my first dip into a talent agency and experiencing what it is like to work within one. I loved my time at Storm and cannot wait to see what the next year hold for me and my career. And of course, I had the most ridiculous and spontaneous experience working as part of ITV’s This Morning at the Television Studios. I still cannot believe that I managed to bag myself that opportunity and have to give myself a little pinch when I tell people about it or see the pictures.
More memories were made when George and I visited London to walk over the O2 and have afternoon tea. We visited Chartwell and also took some beach trips to enjoy the summer days and evenings and of course, indulge in fish and chips.
A lot of concerts were attended and a lot of drinks were drunk over the course of the year. We had the most amazing time seeing Foo Fighters and loved Michael Buble even though we did get absolutely soaked. I also ticked Paramore and Arctic Monkeys off my musical bucket list, I still can’t quite believe I got to see them (Pinch me).
Our family friends finally tied the knot and it was a pleasure to be part of their special day. It was one of the hottest days of the year therefore making it perfect for an outdoor wedding which was another first for me.
In August we took off to Cyprus on a family holiday and stayed in the gorgeous Olympic Lagoon resort in Nissi Bay. Can safely say Cyprus is beautiful and one of those places for me where I can lay on a sun bed and do nothing other than read a book whilst sipping on a cocktail all day. I have never been to a country that is so relaxing before. For me it is certainly my time out place and was lovely to recharge before being thrown into my final year at uni.
September rolled around the start of my final year at university. It is crazy to think now that I left school three years ago, I still can’t quite believe it myself. 2019 is the final step to finishing and being able to hand in my chunky dissertation, stand in a cap and gown and collect my certificate.
2018 would have certainly been a crap year without friends. This year I have felt like the glue for a lot of people, helping them get through the difficult times. I am so proud of them for dealing with whatever shit is thrown their way and being able to come out the other side with smiles on their faces. Will always have your backs, the tissues to mop up your tears and to be the one to bring laughter when you’re sobbing.
So as much as everyone says 2018 was a load of rubbish, I don’t think it was. It has taught my a lot about myself, how to let go and move on from things you feel are holding you back and to focus more on the future.
As for 2019, there are a lot of exciting things to look forward to and it is the year for new beginnings. I am so looking forward to seeing what 2019 brings and the memories to be made. Wishing you all a Happy New Year and lots of happiness and laughter!
